Detailed Itinerary (8 days)

Day 1

Day 1 – Arrival & First Steps into the Wild

Arrival at Nepalgunj Airport and private scenic transfer to Bardia. Settle into the lodge, meet your naturalist guides, and receive a complete safety and expedition briefing. Take an evening walk around the lodge to spot golden jackals and birdlife. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2

Day 2 – Tracking Tigers & Ascending the River

Early departure to the entrance of the Babai Valley. Begin walking tracking along the riverbeds where predator tracks are fresh in the morning sand. Establish the first wild camp on a secure sandbank. Campfire dinner and night in tents listening to nocturnal jungle calls.
Day 3

Day 3 – Into the Heart of Babai

A full day dedicated to tracking big cats and herds of wild elephants. Hike through dense sal forests, tall elephant grass, and rocky gorges. Strategic waiting posts at natural water points. Second night of wild camping under the pristine Himalayan night sky.
Day 4

Day 4 – From River to Forest Canopies

Continue exploring the remote valley corridors. Observe marsh deer (Barasingha), nilgai antelopes, and endangered gharials basking in the sun. Third night in wilderness bivouac with our field camp crew.
Day 5

Day 5 – Full-Day 4x4 Jeep Safari

Exit the deep valley and transition to an open 4x4 safari jeep to cover greater distances across the western grasslands and riverbanks of Bardia. Return to the comfort of the eco-lodge for a hot shower and hearty local dinner.
Day 6

Day 6 – Rest & Life on the Riverbanks

A slower-paced day dedicated to river observation. Traditional wooden dugout canoe drift on the Geruwa River, peaceful photography pauses, and birdwatching. Overnight at the eco-lodge.
Day 7

Day 7 – Tharu Cultural Immersion Day

Visit traditional Tharu villages on foot or by bicycle. Discover their mud-and-thatch architecture, organic agriculture, and animist traditions. Evening cultural performance and traditional feast.
Day 8

Day 8 – Return to Kathmandu

Final breakfast in the peaceful jungle morning. Private transfer to Nepalgunj Airport and flight back to Kathmandu.
